In Chinese culture, the magnolia tree is a recognised symbol of purity and nobility. This refined, modern chinoiserie design is entirely hand-painted, its well-defined branches balanced by the femininity of the magnolia flowers and butterflies.
“Early mornings spent gazing at the magnolia trees in my own garden inspired the ‘Magnolia Canopy’ design. I wanted to bring the serenity of the outside in - the gently flowing branches and magnolia blossoms creating a feeling of restfulness and calm.” Sophie Paterson

Origin
To access the most highly skilled painters, our craftsmanship takes place in Wuxi, the centre of China's silk industry. The ancient art of Chinese painting continues to be passed down from generation to generation in this part of the country — and has been for over 2,500 years. Once the silk has been dyed and painted by hand, each artwork is framed in the UK.
