The cherry blossom has been favoured among artists for centuries, for its natural grace and symbolic value. Each spring the cherry blossom tree returns to life; it is reborn. The gestural, hand-painted brushstrokes capture the fleeting beauty of these blossoms, against the elegant lustre of a silk ground.
“I wanted to evoke the feeling a gentle breeze on a balmy spring afternoon with a sense of calm and soft movement - the branches gently sway in the wind with the odd blossom fluttering off a branch.” Sophie Paterson

Origin
To access the most highly skilled painters, our craftsmanship takes place in Wuxi, the centre of China's silk industry. The ancient art of Chinese painting continues to be passed down from generation to generation in this part of the country — and has been for over 2,500 years. Once the silk has been dyed and painted by hand, each artwork is framed in the UK.
